Articles Featuring Piranha
By Brady L. Kay / Photos by Lynn Kay There is one noise that no boater wants to hear while cruising across the lake. That sound is, "Pa–dumppt," which roughly translated means you need a new propeller now and possibly a new drive after hitting a stump or some other large object below the water's surface. There really isn't a safe time of the year when it comes to avoiding objects that can break or bend yo...
By Don Garrison Second in a series of propeller technology articles: July, 2003 Last month I addressed propeller performance as a function of diameter and pitch. This month, let’s take a look at both the physical and financial performance (and pitfalls) of the most common materials used to make propellers. The perfect prop is made of a material I call “unobtainium” and it has all the ideal properties any good boater coul...

Customer Reviews
Randy Viessman from Granite City, IL says: I believe I have been using my Piranha Prop since 2001. I wouldn‘t use anything else. I fish and don‘t want a damaged prop ruining my day. I carry extra blades in the boat and I can change them on the water. I have a Carolina Skiff with a 90hp Merc. I use a 21 pitch, 3 blade. It will run 42 mph top speed. I drive it 32 mph most of the time. One friend of mine broke his lower unit with a stainless on a new 125 hp Merc and it cost him over $3000.00. I ordered him a 4 blade, 22 pitch Piranha. He is very happy.

How do our boat propellers work?

Our propellers feature a functional, modular design - which allows you to change damaged blades individually, as you need.
The key to the patented Piranha Propeller is the hub. The center hub consists of a high-strength aluminum core, molded over with our specially-formulated composite material, Verton.
The hub is designed to take the shock of the propeller's impact, which means you no longer experience spun hubs. We are confident in our virtually indestructible hubs, which is why we back them with a lifetime warranty.
Our replaceable blades are made from the same high-strength composite, perfectly balanced, and precisely pitched - giving you a blade 15% stronger than die-cast aluminum.
We recognize the high cost of replacing and repairing your lower unit, which is why Piranha engineers designed the hub, blades, and materials to absorb impact energy - protecting your prop shaft and gears.
