We put Piranha's props to the test, and found they stack up against the rest. But rarely are we invited to a test where we are encouraged to destroy something. So when Piranha Propellers of San Luis Obispo, California, offered to let us hit a submerged object in order to tests its composite propellers, how could we ...

Customer Reviews
Rich Ahlers from Waco, TX says: I have a 19‘ Sea Ray powered by a 190 hp Mercruiser Alpha I. I purchased a 14x21 prop to replace the existing aluminum prop which was slightly damaged by an underwater obstruction. The most impressive feature to me is the fact that if I hit an underwater obstruction, the blade(s) affected will break instead of destroying my stern drive unit. In fact, this past summer someone who didn‘t have much experience was trailering my boat and didn‘t raise the motor all of the way. The concrete ramp took off half of the skag and 2 blades from the prop, but the stern drive was not damaged. If I was using an aluminum prop, the stern drive would have been damaged and I would‘ve been without a boat the rest of the summer. I would‘ve also spent over $200 to buy more aluminum props and thousands to repair the stern drive. As you can see, I am very satisfied with your product.

How do our boat propellers work?

Our propellers feature a functional, modular design - which allows you to change damaged blades individually, as you need.
The key to the patented Piranha Propeller is the hub. The center hub consists of a high-strength aluminum core, molded over with our specially-formulated composite material, Verton.
The hub is designed to take the shock of the propeller's impact, which means you no longer experience spun hubs. We are confident in our virtually indestructible hubs, which is why we back them with a lifetime warranty. Our replaceable blades are made from the same high-strength composite, perfectly balanced, and precisely pitched - giving you a blade 15% stronger than die-cast aluminum.
We recognize the high cost of replacing and repairing your lower unit, which is why Piranha engineers designed the hub, blades, and materials to absorb impact energy - protecting your prop shaft and gears.
